Community Grant Program

Horizon-Cares Charitable Grant Program will consider awarding grants of $5,000.00 or more to programs and/or organizations that are an organization described in Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. If the application requests a grant for a one-time project, the request may be for all or for part of the cost of the project. If the application requests a grant for an ongoing project, the application must request funding for all or part of the project for one year only. Programs or organizations must secure financial commitments from other reliable sources to cover ongoing financial needs in the future. Other financial resources can include government agencies, charitable organizations, self-supporting ticket sales or other options. Grants to be used for a building program can be up to 2% of the total cost of the building project. Applications for grants that would enable the requesting organization to receive matching funds are encouraged.

Grants will not be considered for: Any organization that engages in any project or function that is political in nature; any organization engaged in lobbying any government group through a registered lobbyist; any group that makes a contribution of cash, goods, services or facilities to any candidate for an elected office or to a political party; any group that endorses a political candidate or political party; any group that assists in promoting any political candidate or political party through the display of posters, signs or in any other manner. Any organization that discriminates as defined under federal law through its membership practices or in the way it distributes the benefit of its activities (groups protected against discrimination include race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age, Vietnam era or disabled veteran status, or handicap.
