Horizon Bank

FDIC Insurance

New Deposit Insurance Limits:
The standard insurance amount of $250,000 per depositor is in effect through December 31, 2013. On January 1, 2014, the standard insurance amount will return to $100,000 per depositor for all account categories except IRAs and other certain retirement accounts, which will remain at $250,000 per depositor.

Horizon Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through June 30, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts (including accounts earning an interest rate of .50% or less) are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.

Horizon Bank checking products that qualify for the expanded coverage are: Premium Checking, Gold Checking, Free Checking, Beyond Free Checking, Interest Checking, e-Checking, Bank at Work Checking, CML Business Advantage Checking, Business Advantage Checking, Business Interest Checking, Business Basic Checking, Business Economy Checking and Easy Business Checking.

The FDIC protects you against the loss of your insured deposits in the unlikely event that an FDIC-Insured Institution fails. If you or your family's deposit accounts at one FDIC-Insured Institution total $250,000 or less, your deposits are fully insured. If you or your family has more than $250,000 at one insured institution, you can still be fully insured if your accounts meet certain requirements. Use the FDIC's Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) or view the FDIC's "Are You Covered?" brochure to determine your insurance coverage beyond the basic $250,000 amount. Our account experts are also available to help you determine how your deposit relationships can be structured to provide maximum coverage.

Note: Federal law provides up to $250,000 in insurance coverage for deposits held in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
